CCTV Systems

See your property from your phone and get clear recorded footage when it matters. Cameras planned, installed and tested by one team.

Most people only check their CCTV after something goes wrong, and that is when they find out the recorder stopped weeks ago, the night footage is a grey blur, or the camera at the gate was pointing at the wall. A system that cannot identify a face or a number plate is not security. It is decoration.

Nerpax Systems plans and delivers CCTV installation for homes, rental blocks, shops, offices and institutions across Nairobi, Kiambu and the surrounding counties. One team handles the whole job:

  • Site survey: we walk the property, mark blind spots, entry points and lighting, and agree what each camera must see.
  • Supply: genuine cameras, recorders, hard drives, cabling and power supplies matched to your site.
  • Installation: neat, protected cable runs and firm mounting at the right height and angle.
  • Commissioning: we set recording schedules, motion alerts and remote viewing, then test every camera by day and by night.
  • Handover: we show you how to play back, export clips and view live on your phone.

The result is footage you can actually use, from cameras that keep recording when the power or internet drops. Tell us about your property and request a free quote, or book a site visit and we will design the system on site.

Why choose us

Designed around what you need to see

Every camera position is agreed during the site survey against a clear purpose: faces at the door, plates at the gate, or an overview of the yard.

Recording you can rely on

We size hard drives for your preferred retention period and put the recorder on backup power, so footage is there when you need to go back to it.

Genuine equipment only

We supply genuine cameras, recorders and drives from established manufacturers, not grey-market kits that fail after a few months of Kenyan dust and heat.

Neat, protected cabling

Cables run in trunking or conduit and joints are weatherproofed, which keeps the installation tidy and protects it from rain, rodents and tampering.

Phone viewing set up and explained

We configure the mobile app on your phone during handover and walk you through live view, playback and saving clips.

Room to grow

We leave spare recorder channels and network capacity where your budget allows, so adding cameras or access control later is straightforward.

IP or analogue CCTV: choosing the right system

There are two main families of CCTV system, and the right one depends on the size of the property, the detail you need and your budget.

HD analogue cameras with a DVR

Modern analogue cameras (often called TVI or CVI) send video over coaxial cable to a digital video recorder. They are cost-effective, simple to maintain and a good fit for homes and small shops that need four to eight cameras. They are also a sensible upgrade path when old coaxial cabling is already in place.

IP cameras with an NVR

IP cameras send video over network cable to a network video recorder, and most are powered through the same cable (PoE). They give sharper images, better night performance and smarter features such as line-crossing and human or vehicle detection. For larger compounds, offices, schools and apartment blocks, IP is usually the better long-term choice.

Specialist cameras

  • PTZ cameras pan, tilt and zoom to follow activity across a car park or yard.
  • ANPR-ready cameras are positioned and configured to read number plates at a gate or barrier.
  • Colour night-vision cameras help where clothing colour or vehicle colour matters after dark.

What affects the cost of CCTV installation

No two sites cost the same. The main factors are:

  • Number of cameras and whether you choose analogue or IP.
  • Camera resolution and features (night colour, audio, PTZ, ANPR).
  • Cable distances, wall types and whether trenching or ducting is needed.
  • How many days or weeks of recording you want to keep.
  • Backup power for the recorder and cameras.

As an indicative 2026 guide, a supplied and installed four-camera home system typically falls in the range of KES 35,000 to 80,000, while an eight-camera IP system for a business or apartment block is often KES 100,000 to 250,000. These figures depend on site; confirm with a free site survey. You can also compare our ready-made CCTV packages.

Who we install CCTV for

  • Homeowners who want to see the gate, parking and every door from their phone, including when they travel.
  • Landlords and apartment managers who need to monitor shared entrances, stairwells and parking and settle tenant disputes with evidence.
  • Shops, offices and warehouses dealing with stock loss, cash handling and staff accountability.
  • Schools, churches and clinics that need wide coverage of gates, corridors and compounds with controlled access to footage.

Maintenance and aftercare

Cameras collect dust, spiders build webs across lenses and hard drives wear out. A system left alone for a year often has at least one camera that is offline or out of focus. Our CCTV maintenance contracts cover lens cleaning, recorder health checks, hard drive status, firmware updates and a test of remote viewing, so problems are found during a routine visit rather than after an incident.

We also repair and upgrade systems installed by others. If your cameras show "no signal" or your phone app has stopped connecting, we can diagnose the fault and advise whether a repair or an upgrade makes more sense.

Pair CCTV with other security layers

Cameras record what happens; other systems help stop it. Many clients combine CCTV with an electric fence on the perimeter and alarm systems inside the building. If you prefer to buy cameras, cables and accessories for your own team, browse the Nerpax shop and request a quote for delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does CCTV installation cost in Kenya?
Cost depends on the number of cameras, IP or analogue technology, cable distances and how much recording storage you need. As a 2026 guide, a supplied and installed four-camera home system is often KES 35,000 to 80,000, and an eight-camera IP system for a business is often KES 100,000 to 250,000. Prices depend on site; confirm with a free site survey.
Can I watch my CCTV cameras on my phone?
Yes. Most modern recorders connect to a free mobile app so you can watch live video, play back recordings and receive motion alerts from anywhere with data. The recorder needs an internet connection at the property, such as home fibre or a Wi-Fi router with a data plan. We set up the app on your phone during handover.
Which is better, IP or analogue CCTV cameras?
IP cameras give sharper images, better night vision and smarter detection, and they suit larger properties and businesses. HD analogue cameras cost less and are reliable for homes and small shops with a few cameras. The right choice depends on the detail you need to capture, your budget and existing cabling, which we assess during the site survey.
Does CCTV keep recording during a power blackout?
Only if it has backup power. Without it, the cameras and recorder switch off the moment KPLC power goes, which is exactly when many break-ins happen. We recommend a UPS or battery backup for the recorder, cameras and router, sized to keep the system running through typical outages. Solar backup is also an option for longer cuts.
How many days of footage does a CCTV system store?
It depends on hard drive size, the number of cameras, resolution and whether the system records continuously or only on motion. A typical home system with four cameras and a 1TB to 2TB drive can often keep around two to four weeks of footage. We size the storage to the retention period you want during design.
Do I need internet for CCTV to work?
No. The cameras record to the recorder on site without internet. You only need an internet connection if you want to view cameras remotely on your phone or receive alerts. If the internet goes down, recording continues and you can still view footage on the monitor connected to the recorder.
How many CCTV cameras do I need for my house?
Most homes need four to eight cameras: one at the main gate, one covering parking, one on each external door and one or two along the perimeter or back of the house. Plot size, wall height and lighting change this. A site survey shows where blind spots are so you do not pay for cameras you do not need.
Can you repair or upgrade a CCTV system installed by someone else?
Yes. We diagnose faults such as cameras showing no signal, failed hard drives, broken phone viewing and poor night images on existing systems. Where a repair is not cost-effective, we explain the options for upgrading, including reusing good cabling and adding IP cameras to an existing setup where the equipment allows it.
